Andronnai History

If you're reading this, then you must have an interest in House Andronnai and what we are about. It is pretty simple actually, we are about having time away from the realities of life and enjoying that time that we have together. Though real life, or reality as many have dubbed it, never takes a second seat to our games, we do tend to focus on one principle: To have fun in life. Gaming is one way of achieving that. Whether you are a married person looking for an hour away from work, bills and the hustle of life, or you are a student that is looking for some safe clean fun to learn and grow, House Andronnai is the place for you.

House Andronnai first formed officially back in 1981. This was before the computer age, but at the height of Dungeons and Dragons. A group of school friends gathered together on a regular basis, when ever they were able to get away from "hassles" of real life, to play our imaginitive characters that we had created. This started fairly early, and continued even after some of us had started to move away. In 1981, the guild registered with TSR Tournaments in Dearborn Michigan for their first tournament. However, a year later the name was changed from Warriors of the Abyss to House Andronnai. How did this change take place? Just sit back and read the short story of how it happened.

Adrian's mother had dubbed us Warriors of the Abyss because of her bedroom, and that we were almost always in there. This bedroom was the basement, which also had not only our large gaming table, but her dark room as well. We had "The Wall" where everyone whom visited had drawn upon it, from simple pictures, dedications to our own epic poems. It was, as Adrian's mother had said, the Abyss. At our first tournament we did register under that same name. However came under a small snag. Sarrene's character was a half human half drow. Drow characters, or any evil aligned character was not aloud to be used by a player. However, after a lengthly review of the story line, the pictures and even her history, Sarrene's character, "Andronnai" was aloud to be part of the tournament. The next one that happened in Southfield, some of the members of the group had gotten to the Gen-Con/Tournament early and instead of registering the name as Warriors of the Abyss as it was done previously, they registered the guild as House Andronnai. In honor of the first half-Drow character being aloud the guild kept its name ever since.

House Andronnai was comprised of 8 people, all friends from either school or other placements, whom would get together once a week if possible. Yet after a few years times began to change. Some moved on, some eventually got married, went to college and adult life began. But that was not the end of House Andronnai. Most of the members got together when ever possible, and with the new internet, it was even easer. Starting out with MUDS and MUSHES on our IBM's, Tandy's and Comadore64's computers, we would still dial up and meet to play. Mike wrote our first very own MUD in 1985. We moved on up from there to basic games to multi player to eventualy what we have today, the mmoRPG. The rest, as they say, is history.
