Well, with Thanksgiving coming up on us soon, I find myself with a renewed sense of motivation. I keep hearing how horrible most of the local IT companies are and how easy it would be for me to blow them out of the water, so I\'ve decided I\'m going to give it a serious attempt. In celebration (more like, out of necessity) I\'m rolling out a new design for my website and would like some brutally honest opinions. Here is my current website: Oasis Technology Group Here is my WIP: Oasis Technology Group (WIP) Please let me know which design you like better and any likes or dislikes for either of them. Yes, Sarah, this is your chance to get back at me for my... erm... criticisms of your Work In Progress ;)

I would have to say that you need something more.. interactive, attractive and not as boring. Being specific is good, but without a good presentation, people will see it and move on to the next one. For business sites, I do keep things simple and follow these rules. Remember, there is a HUGE difference between a guild or game site and a business site. Currently, your site has a cold boring feeling about it. If someone is offering tech support, I would expect the site to have a more warm and inviting site saying "We want your business.. look at us". Right now, it just says to me "I am html, read me". Logo is good, and over all information looks good so far. Be attractive: You will want a good two color scheme with something to contrast.. you have blue and white, and might want to think of a third colour for that mentioned contrast. Not enough attractiveness, (or a cold site) you will put people off. Too much you will overwhelm them and they wont come back. (if they survive the seizures). Dont put everything on the front page: Give them tidbits of what you do, perhaps different modals or categories, and link to more information. You have to find that balance between enough information and not enough. You want just enough to catch your visitors eye and have them want to read more. Have an easy to navigate menu: The best thing in the world once you achieve the two above, is for your visitors to be able to find what they are looking for in as little of "clicks" as possible. Make your information easy to get to: You will want most of all and at the very end, a synopsis of what exeactly you do and how to get in contact with you. The more information you have and the easer it is for people to contact you, the more business you will pull in. If you can use CMS tools, do so. Though setting up might be a bit difficult in the start, in the end, it will help yor productivity as well as keep your visitors interested. Having both a front and back end (and no, im not talking ftp) interface to your site will help you spend more time on your service or product then working on the site and keeping it updated. Also see the next rule, it does apply to this as well. And most of all, KISS: Keep It Simple Silly. You can have a lot of mods (moduals or content), be interactive, but you still want to have the site have that simple feel.. but remember not too simple. Also, do not focus on things you may not or do not need. But DO try to keep things set up for your vistors to have that interactive and welcoming feel. Okay, that is it really. I can assist with making a template and design if you like, that is not a problem. On a side note, once i get the new template finished for the forum.. i think you will like it. :P Peace, Sarrene\'

Changes abound We\'ve made some tweaks (just little itty bitty tweaks. Like a new domain name ) 1) http://www.oasistechgroup.com 2) http://www.oasistechgroup.com/oasisnew/ 3) http://www.oasistechgroup.com/oasisnew2/ Please let me know what you think of each and which one you like best. And remember, please be brutally honest.

I\'ll have to try it on the left-hand side and see how it looks. I think, color-wise, I am going to be going with design #3 with a few tweaks here and there. Edit: Ok, I\'ve changed the sidebar location on design #3.

Hey I like the look of the website. Re:content I read the starting paragraphs and think - this is going to be expensive. I find statements like "value for money", "cost effective solution" etc as less emotive. If covering US and Canada - as easy to go world-wide (in English). I think for web-site work it is virtually impossible to provide a fixed price. I would offer a "free" consultancy to enable you to understand the size of the project etc. To limit cost on this - a voip call for introduction coupled with standard questions on a form and follow up voip calls will keep the price down. You want to make it very easy for them to kick it off - with you getting in the driving seat. I really like a button that brings up a form for me to fill out with email and tel number and a brief description of the project.

Time for more unbridled evil. We have unleashed a fourth design because I really wasn\'t too happy with the others. http://www.oasistechgroup.com/oasisnew3/ Yes, I know it\'s not terribly dynamic yet. I\'m workin on it, I\'m workin on it :P The question, as always.... is this site visually appealing? Easy to read?

That is looking a lot better. It is simple, but has some style to it. What about prehaps seting either a smaller fixed width, or perhaps set main table or wrapper at around 80% ? Keep up the good work, again it is really moving along!
